Low pressure of gas forced the citizens of many cities in Punjab including Lahore and Rawalpindi to revert to old practice of using firewood to cook meal and keep them warm during the intensity of cold weather.

It should be mentioned here that the dwellers of Gawal Mandi, Barafkhana Chowk, Dil Muhammad Road, Icchra, Samanabad, Hameed Ali Park, Baghbanpura, Multan Road, Township and Nishtar Colony in Lahore and Khayban-e-Sir Sir, Satellite Town, Sadiqabad and many other areas have been facing several difficulties in cooking due to low pressure. The pressure is even much less when the CNG stations are closed.

The house women spend entire day in preparing meal for the family members by burning firewood while those families who can afford costly Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders are using them with lot of resentment. The citizens expressing grave concern over the situation have demanded the SNGPL for taking immediate and solid steps to overcome the situation.

They are of the view if at the beginning of winter the gas supply situation worsened then what would be the situation when cold of weather would touch the peak.

They blamed that the government is deliberately creating shortage of gas to make justification for the import of costly LNG and provide benefit to those in the good books of the rulers.

The citizens warned the authorities to address their grievances otherwise they would move to streets to hold protests against the authorities.
